Great post – my personal “must follow that twitterer” strategy is to

1. target those who might be interesting through keywords
2. follow anyone who looks relevant to my own work with the “whata” domain name prefix
3. look at the website of anyone who sends me a personalised message
4. take it from there …

What a great blog. It’s fun reading it and thinking about it. I see myself mainly as a contributor. Everyday I leave a twitter message about DSR (daily social responsibility) and one of my 5 gratefullness messages of that day. And I ask people to think and share their gratefullness with me. It works!! The others I have a little of each. Except the entertainer… I don’t think I am that so much. But I love to share, support and relate with people! You’ve hit on a hot button for me. I intentionally do not stick to only people who do what I do or live where I live or think like I think. The best strategies frequently come from applying to a new area something that’s been a breakthrough success in another, and following a wide range of people on Twitter is a great way to be exposed to that broad spectrum of thought. Keep it up!

Hi! You are right, it is not easy to select, I like people that give me good info, and I don’t select them just from my niche, because this is how you learn and accumulate knowledge. Diversity is great.

I came up with a list about a month ago of three types of people I think gain (or deserve to gain) large followings because they provide a great deal of value: Thought Leader, Conglomerator, & Connector.

But gosh darn it, I didn’t even THINK about Entertainer, and that’s the best one on your list!

I’m starting to get a decent list built of who I think is really funny, but the first one that comes to mind is @badbanana.

I’d love to see YOUR list.

My Twitter experience is truly amazing and very rich because of the many posts on learning, tips, experiences, techniques that i have received, read and retwitted..
